Teller

Star of Texas Credit Union is currently seeking a Full-Time/Part-Time Teller to join their team in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

Monday - Friday: 7:15am - 6:15pm
Saturday: 9:45am - 1:15pm

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for receiving and processing financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments accurately efficiently in order to build member confidence and trust. This position will also be identifying fraudulent activity to prevent potential losses to the Credit Union, maintaining a balanced and accurate teller drawer at all times, contributing to a positive team environment, and consistently seeking to build member relationships by demonstrating outstanding member service by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers and check cashing, MasterCard payments, Visa gift cards, cashier's check, money order, mail deposit, safe deposit box.
  • Receives and directs member's telephone calls. Responds to inquiries and questions if possible or directs them as necessary.
  • Represents and explains Credit Union services and products to members and assists in meeting their financial needs.
  • Travels to other branches when needed.
  • Cross-sells Credit Union products and services.
  • Examines checks deposited and determines proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and completes Hold Notices.
  • Answers basic inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
  • Refers members to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
  • Balances drawer daily.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Follows safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Participates in continuing education as approved/recommended by supervisor.
  • Maintains a professional and courteous attitude with all people including fellow employees, members, management, board members, and outside vendors.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
